Question:  In all Gothic cathedrals, the main axis of the building lines up perfectly with the center of the altar.  True or False?

    False. Many Gothic cathedrals have a slight kink in their main axis. According to some scholars, medieval cathedral architects built the kink deliberately, to add perspective by lengthening the building and also to remind worshipers that God alone is perfect.
